Tournament participation is an important part of a chess player's advancement and enjoyment of the game. An opportunity to play with "like skilled" opponents in a structured tournament is an experience that motivates improvement and creates even more cooperative students. From Head Start Junior short Sunday morning events (9:00 - 10:45 AM) with lot's of prizes! To USCF Weekly Rated, Sunday events (11 - 2 PM) for advancing players, Chess NYC supports them all! The details and schedule are below...

    Affording players the opportunity to play against 3 like skilled players on a weekly basis. Players are paired in "Quads" starting with the 4 highest USCF rated players based on their current months published rating and continuing down to new unrated players.

    Unrated players will be matched by age, eldest to youngest, and receive provisional rating immediately following play.

    Once the Quads round games are complete, the next round will begin. Players may leave upon the completion of their respective Quad.

    Participants will earn points and recognition each week and twice, during the Scholastic Year (12/18/16 & 6/18/17) we will award trophies to the top 20 Point Earners (regardless of rating).

    3 rounds of "win or lose" supervised Chess play for our youngest and newest "Chessters" followed my a Medal Ceremony (everybody wins!) and a "just for the fun of it" raffle of great prizes... you win, just for having the right ticket.
